Use Facebook, Go To Jail
The popular social networking site Facebook has been in the news a bit lately for getting some of its users into trouble with the law. There was that chump who got the longest sentence so far handed out in connection to the recent riots for posting on the site. Now there is this guy
The following is taken from a blog run by a firm of personal injury solicitors. Basically this guy got caught out for his lies by his own Facebook pictures - making the job of the private investigators looking into the case that much easier for them. Obviously as the cliché goes, if you are innocent then you have nothing to fear - but we are giving away privacy in an unprecedented way.
Mr Loveday sought damages for a back injury and psychological injuries, which he claimed had significantly affected his life and ability to work.
He also claimed that since the accident he’d had to use a wheelchair if travelling long distances, had relied on help from his wife, Susan, and had a fear of travelling. Mr Loveday said since his accident he and his wife had been unable to go caravanning.
Following the trial, Mr Neild’s insurers, Acromas, employed a surveillance team, which showed Mr & Mrs Loveday preparing for a caravan holiday in Italy. Acromos also obtained copies of photographs which Mr Loveday had posted on Facebook of his 2,000-mile road trip.
